One exciting, innovative travel/fitness trend that has emerged in recent years is the airport gym. Many of them are right in the terminal, some of which are conveniently located after security. 

So the next time you find yourself flying into, out of, or through one of the airports on our list, consider getting in a workout. It might the best use of your down time, often spent sitting in the terminal while waiting for your next flight.

Roam Fitness - Baltimore-Washington International Airport


ROAM Fitness at Baltimore-Washington International Airport might be offering travelers the most convenient workout experience in any airport in the world right now. Workout clothes and running shoes are available for rent and showers and post-workout nutrition are offered as part of this top-of-the-line travel fitness experience.

Perhaps the best thing about ROAM is that it's located after security. In the gym, you'll find cardio machines, weight machines, and free weights. A day pass is $25 and a yearly pass is $360, or $30 a month. You can also purchase 3 day passes for $65 and 5 day passes for $100.

G-Force Health Club, Dubai International Hotel -Dubai International Airport


If you're flying through Dubai International Airport, consider a stop at the G-Force Health Club, located in Terminal 1 at the Dubai International Hotel. The health club has showers, saunas, a pool, a jacuzzi lounge, and a gym. It's open 24 hours and offers a number of different packages, some of which include a Swedish massage.

One hour in the gym will cost you $13, while full access to the health club (including saunas, jacuzzis, etc.) is $36 for 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Hilton Chicago O'Hare Hotel - O-Hare International Airport


Anyone who's been to Chicago more than once has probably spent considerable time in O'Hare International Airport. Located across from the domestic terminals (it's closest to terminal 2), the Health Club at the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Hotel provides travelers with an excellent opportunity to break a sweat before, after, or while waiting for their next flight.

In addition to the usual cardio machines one would find in a hotel gym, this fitness center is fully equipped with free weights that will keep weight lifters happy while traveling. Enjoy access to barbells, dumbbells, benches, and even a squat rack.

The Health Club is open from 4:30 a.m. to 11 p.m Monday through Thursday, 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Fridays, and 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.

GoodLife Fitness - Toronto Pearson International Airport


If you're passing through Toronto's Pearson International Airport, consider dropping in at GoodLife Fitness in terminal one. The partnership between Canada's largest fitness company and largest airport allows thousands of travelers to stay fit while they travel through Pearson everyday.

The gym offers cardio machines, free weights, luggage storage, and provides clothes and shoe rentals to travelers who need to borrow apparel. Day passes are $15 per person.

Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport


This one is a "pop-up" gym, so it may not be permanent. It's also not that large, but it's convenient location makes up for both of these points.

The gym at Tallinn Airport in Estonia is located right in the terminal, near Gate 6, and is available for you to use free of charge. It's equipped with a treadmill, elliptical trainer, rowing machine, exercise bicycle and a staircase trainer, all equipped with a screen and connected to the Internet.

There are also four training machines for feet, shoulders, chest and back exercises, plus a stretch area.  Enjoy the views of the runways and tarmacs while you get your workout in pre-flight.

Hilton Fit and Fly Spa - Munich Airport


Pay a visit to the Fit and Fly Spa in the Hilton Munich Airport the next time you're passing through and have some time to spare. It features a pool, sauna, steam bath, and a fitness center with cardio machines and free weights. 

It's open Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Day passes are $41 and a two-hour pass is $25.

Fairmont Hotel Health Club - Vancouver Airport


The Fairmont Hotel Health Club in Vancouver Airport offers a Fit on the Fly program to travelers who are not hotel guests and are just passing through the airport. An Economy Pass is $20 and includes access to the gym, pool, sauna, and showers. A Club Pass is $35 and will get you everything that an Economy Pass offers, plus Reebok workout clothes and shoes. A Platinum Pass is $50 and adds a healthy post-workout meal, in addition to everything included in the Club Pass.

The gym offers visitors free weights, treadmills, stationary bikes, and weight machines. Fit on the Fly drop-in visits are available daily between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.

Singapore Changi Airport


At Singapore's Changi Airport, you can squeeze in a workout or a relaxing massage while you wait for your flight in any terminal. All three terminals house state-of-the-art fitness lounges with free weights, exercise bikes and cross trainers. Showers and massages are also available. Access to the fitness lounges is $11 and massages vary between $20 and $60.

Oryx Airport Hotel's Vitality Well-Being and Fitness Centre - Hamad International Airport


The Vitality Well-Being & Fitness Centre in the Oryx Airport Hotel offers visitors access to an indoor swimming pool, a hydrotherapy tub, a gym and squash courts 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. A day pass costs $35 and the gym has a full compliment of cardio machines and free weights. Showers, anti-jet lag massages, and fresh-squeezed juices are available post-workout.

Westin WORKOUT Fitness Studio - Detroit Metropolitan Airport


The Westin Detroit Metropolitan Airport offers airport guests access to their fantastic Westin WORKOUT Fitness Studio for $15. The gym has treadmills, elliptical trainers, Peloton bikes, free weights, and an indoor heated pool. As always with Westin, New Balance Gear Lending offers fresh and clean shoes and workout clothes for $5. The fitness center is open 24 hours and the hotel is connected to the World Gateway Terminal.
