The 10 Best Hotel Gyms in Chicago

The 10 Best Hotel Gyms in Chicago

Consider a stay at one of these hotels with a great fitness center if you're visiting the Windy City.

There was a time when the hotel gym was the size of a closet, had one treadmill and a pair of light dumbbells, and was located in a windowless room in the basement.

But that's changing.

Hotels are now racing to court fitness-minded travelers by building bigger and fancier gyms. They've realized that their guests actually care about their health and want to stay fit while they're away from home and separated from their normal fitness routines.

That's good news for us.

Some hotels have done better than others at providing a top notch fitness experience and we've picked ten of the best, most unique hotel gyms in Chicago.

The Hotel at Midtown

Hotel gyms are usually a small part of the hotel but the reverse is true at the Midtown Athletic Club in the Hotel at Midtown. This is a hotel in a gym and it's incredible. Six levels and 575,000 square feet await travelers who prioritize health and fitness.

Guests have access to Crossfit and athletic performance programs on the 40-foot turf field, a fitness floor with cardio and strength equipment, three squash courts, a boxing studio, two golf simulators, a cycling studio, a basketball court, yoga and Pilates studios, four pools, and a tennis lounge with sixteen courts.

Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile

Open 24 hours and over 9,000 square feet, the gym in the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile provides guests with an impressive array of cardio machines, strength machines, and free weights. There's also a TRX station and a Fitness Lab that offers over 1,200 digital classes, including cycling, yoga, Pilates, Zumba, and boot camp.

The Langham

The Langham Chicago's modern fitness studio and adjoining group class studio span 2,260 square feet and are outfitted with state-of-the-art equipment, including fourteen treadmills, fourteen strength machines, a functional training area, and a wide range of dumbbells.

Soho House

If you're traveling to Chicago and you like boxing, the Soho House will make you feel like it was designed just for you. The 17,000 square foot gymnasium features a professional boxing ring, heavy bags, speed bags, TechnoGym and Rogue fitness equipment, two group training studios, steam rooms, and lounges.

The Westin Chicago River North

WestinWORKOUT Fitness Studios can always be counted on for an exceptional fitness experience and the one in the Westin Chicago River North is no different. It's open 24 hours and has standard cardio machines, plus two Peloton bikes, a water-driven rowing machine, kettlebells, slam balls, plyometric boxes, free weights, benches, and dumbbells up to eighty pounds.

A personal trainer and New Balance Gear Lending are available on request.

Anyone who's been to Chicago more than once has probably spent considerable time in O'Hare International Airport (I know I have). That's why we included an airport hotel and the Hilton Chicago O'Hare Airport was an easy choice.

In addition to the usual cardio machines one would find in a hotel gym, this fitness center is fully equipped with free weights that will keep weight lifters happy while traveling. Enjoy barbells, dumbbells, benches, and even a squat rack during your stay.

The Four Seasons

Open 24 hours and over 2,000 square feet, the Fitness Club at the Four Seasons in Chicago is a great facility for travelers who want to maintain their routine on the road. It's fully equipped with cardio machines, weight machines, free weights, and plenty of space to stretch out. Personal training and guided runs along Lake Michigan are also available.

Ritz-Carlton

The 2,700 square foot fitness center at the Ritz-Carlton offers picturesque floor-to-ceiling windows with views of Navy Pier, Lake Michigan and the Chicago skyline while you use one of the many cardio machines.

Available beyond the fitness floor is innovative programming such as remote personal training, group fitness classes, wellness experiences and nutritional counseling tailored for you to live a healthy and balanced lifestyle. Classes offered include total body conditioning, boot camp, yoga, and zumba.

The fitness center is open 24 hours.

Kimpton Gray Hotel

The fitness center at the Kimpton Gray Hotel features a high energy feel thanks to large windows. There's treadmills, bikes, weight machines, resistance bands, kettlebells, and dumbbells in this facility, which is open 24 hours.

Hotel EMC2

The fitness center in the Hotel EMC2 is open 24 hours and features a full compliment of state-of-the-art cardio and resistance machines, along with free weights, boxing bags, and plenty of space for bodyweight training, yoga, and stretching.
