5 Exciting New Ways Hotels Are Bringing Fitness to Their Guests

Travelers are increasingly taking health and fitness into consideration when booking a hotel and the hospitality industry has responded with some great partnerships.

Do you consider wellness a top priority when booking a hotel? If you're reading this, chances are good that you're a fitness-minded traveler, making you part of a growing segment of the traveling population.

Travelers today are more likely than ever to research the fitness options at their destination. Whether that means checking to see if the hotel has a decent gym or seeing if their favorite fitness class can be found nearby, maintaining a fitness routine away from home is important to many travelers.

Hotels are taking notice of this growing shift in what their guests want. Here are five cool ways that hotels have partnered with health and fitness companies to deliver an exceptional, and sometimes unique, fitness experience to their guests.

Mandarin Oriental and Grokker

Mandarin Oriental has teamed up with health and fitness platform Grokker to bring their guests complimentary access to fitness videos right in the room. Grokker offers over 3,700 expert-led videos in fitness, yoga, meditation, and healthy cooking. Ranging from five to fifty minutes in length, it's perfect for busy travelers with limited time and flexibility in their schedule.

A selection of Grokker's fitness, yoga, meditation, and pilates videos can be viewed at the following Mandarin Oriental destinations globally: Bangkok, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Macau, Shanghai, Singapore, Boston, Miami, New York, Washington, Geneva, London, Paris and Prague, with other locations scheduled to come online throughout 2018.

Sheraton and Peloton

Tapping into the enormous popularity of Peloton, the Sheraton New York Times Square now offers ten Peloton bikes in a dedicated room within their 3,500 square foot fitness center.

Guests have 24-hour access to studio cycling classes and can join any of the up to 14 daily live classes and 5,000+ on demand workouts. In addition, guests may join daily group Peloton rides broadcast onto an 85-inch screen. There are six group rides Monday through Thursday, five on Friday and up to four on the weekend.

Hilton's Five Feet to Fitness

Hilton's Five Feet From Fitness includes eleven different fitness and accessory options right in your room. The new room type features an indoor bike from British cycling innovator Wattbike that is used for either longer 'indoor-cycling' type exercise sessions or focused interval-training workouts. Next, dynamic Gym RaxTM functional training station provides apparatus and accessory that delivers unlimited strength, core, suspension and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) style workouts to guests.

At the heart of the concept is the Fitness Kiosk, a touch screen display embedded within the Gym Rax system where guests receive equipment tutorials and follow guided workout routines. In partnership with Aktiv Solutions, Hilton has created more than 200 bespoke fitness videos in categories ranging from Cardio, Cycling, Endurance, Strength, HIIT, Yoga, Stretch and Recovery.
