It's a terrible feeling when you find out your hotel's gym is tiny. Or it doesn't exist at all. It happens, although less frequently than it used to.
Most hotels have realized that their guests actually care about their health and want to stay fit while they're away from home and separated from their normal fitness routines. Some hotels have done better than others at providing a top notch fitness experience and we've picked ten of the best, most unique hotel gyms in the world.
They are not ranked in any particular order and have been selected based on factors that include convenience, views, size, and variety of fitness amenities offered. All of the hotels were researched through personal visits or consultation with those that have used them.

Park Hyatt - Toyko
The Club on the Park gymnasium and aerobics studio flank either side of a pool on the 47th floor. The studio features body sonic flooring, while the gym is equipped with a complete range of Life Fitness weight training and fitness equipment. Floor-to-ceiling windows with a stunning view from 47 floors up make the Park Hyatt in Tokyo arguably the hotel gym with the best view.
Langham Place - Hong Kong
The split-level Health Club at The Langham in Hong Kong features state-of-the art equipment including cardiovascular and strengthening machines and free weights. Personal trainers and workout classes in Tai Chi, yoga, meditation, and singing bowl sound therapy. Plus a beautiful view of Hong Kong.
Hotel Jen - Beijing
The Shangri-La Health Club at Hotel Jen in Beijing features eleven different workout zones, a mixed martial arts ring, a swimming pool with a skylight, a sauna, juice bar, and several studios. The club's look is inspired by street art with graffiti artwork that looks really cool. Plus it offers floor-to-ceiling views of Beijing.
Jumeirah Beach Hotel - Dubai
You probably won't have to wait for a treadmill at the Talise Fitness in the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. There's a ton of them. Plus free weights, cardio machines, and a beautiful marina view. Unlike most hotel gyms, you'll find kettlebells, TRX straps, and boxes for functional workouts.
GymBox at St. Martins Lane Hotel - London
St Martins Lane Hotel has partnered with London’s GymBox to provide guests with a unique workout experience adjacent to the luxury boutique hotel. It features state-of-the-art cardio and resistance equipment, Olympic-sized boxing rings, huge ‘hammer strength’ free weights sections, hip-hop belly dancers, and cage fighters.
Classes and personal training are also available. St Martins Lane guests have complimentary access to GymBox and receive free gym kit laundering (limited to three items per day). It's the largest hotel gym in Europe and has spin rooms, nightly resident DJs, and laser-lit dance studios. That's hard to top.
Marriott Marquis - New York City
It's New York City's largest hotel fitness center - at 4,000 square feet. It's glass enclosed and features treadmills, rowers, cross trainers, free weights, and machines. Score an incredible view of the center of the universe (Times Square) while you workout at the Marriott Marquis' gym. That's hard to beat.
Park Plaza - Boston
This 20,000 square foot fitness center is filled with strength training and cardio equipment to provide guests with an awesome fitness experience during their stay. The lights in the fitness center provide an "energy-filled ambiance" that is an incredible alternative to typical hotel fitness centers with fluorescent lighting.
1 Hotel - Miami
The South Beach Miami 1 Hotel features a Spartan Gym through a partnership with Spartan Race - the company that runs the obstacle course mud races that have become extremely popular. The 14,000 square foot facility includes obstacles, climbing ropes, monkey bars, training classes, and outdoor workout areas.
Kimpton Alexis Hotel - Seattle
Finally, a hotel gym inspired by the functional fitness movement! This one has been called "the best hotel gym ever" and the "most fun" hotel gym. Alexis Hotel in Seattle offers guests monkey bars, Olympic rings, kettlebells, boxes, jump ropes, and a cardio room with a mural of the Seattle skyline. The functional fitness room has a rock climbing wall so you can have some real fun while getting in your physical activity.
