Travel Like Tim Ferriss With These 6 Fitness Items

Tim Ferriss is a jack of all trades but if there are two things he knows, it's travel and fitness.

I'm shocked when I mention Tim Ferriss to someone and they don't know who he is.

Incredibly, this still happens.

So if you've been living on the moon for the last decade, let me fill you in.

Tim Ferriss is a demigod to many entrepreneurs, digital nomads, and almost anyone who has committed time and energy to learn how they can enhance their life by accumulating more time wealth and learning new things in the most time-efficient way possible.

Who is Tim Ferriss?

Tim is an author, blogger, podcast host, early-stage investor, and so much more.

He's a jack of all trades.

He has led a charge to rethink the most traditional and old-fashioned ways we tend to live our lives.

Buying a house you can't afford and that ties you to a single location. Working in a corporate job that consumes all of your time and that you despise. Deferring travel until you're too old to enjoy it.

Tim has forced many of us to look at things from an alternative perspective. He has experimented on himself to better understand the best methods of achieving health and fitness.

He delves into the minds of top-performing hedge fund managers, entrepreneurs, military generals, athletes, and more on his podcast to uncover the strategies that have worked for them.

He shares this with the millions of people that make up his audience so that we can all learn and benefit from what actually works.

Tim's Six Travel Fitness Essentials

If there's two things that Tim Ferriss knows, it's traveling and how to stay fit.

In his book, "Tools of Titans: The Tactics, Routines, and Habits of Billionaires, Icons, and World-Class Performers", Tim lists the six fitness items that he always has with him when he travels.

He likes to have several sets of each and pre-positions them in trunks at hotels that he frequently visits. For those of us who cannot afford to do this, these items are mostly small enough that they can be packed in your carry-on.

If it's good enough for Tim Ferriss, you'll probably want to try it.

Here is Tim's six-piece gym in a bag.

Voodoo Floss

Voodoo Floss Bands have become hugely popular in the Crossfit community.  As a performance tool, Voodoo Floss Bands have been reported to improve muscle quality, increase blood flow, reduce injuries, and restore joint mechanics.

Many athletes have embraced Voodoo Floss Bands as an essential warm-up tool and use them to prepare their muscles for strenuous workouts and activity.

Furniture Sliders

Furniture sliders are a unique way to take bodyweight exercises to a new level.

Using these small discs will allow you to challenge your core while doing variations of traditional exercises like push-ups and lunges.

Tim likes to put them under his feet and perform a move called "ag walks with rear support" up and down hallways.

RumbleRoller

The rumble roller is the more advanced version of the foam roller.

It provides a level of deep-tissue massage that will help you recover after strenuous workouts and will aid you in getting some quality shut-eye at night if you use it before bed. You'll feel better and perform better. Try it out.

Price: $44

Bed of Nails

Bed of Nails is a roll-out needle mat that provides acupressure on the go. Use it for meditation and healing. Induce deep relaxation, stimulate energy and relieve pain.

Price: $69-99

Tera's Whey Goat Whey Protein

I stopped taking whey protein a few years ago when I noticed it was making me breakout on my face and back. I was reluctant to try any type of whey again but I gave goat whey protein a shot.

It tastes great, mixes well and hasn't caused me to breakout. It's also available in small packets that are perfect for travel.

Price: $26

Mini-parallel Bars

Mini-parallel bars, or parallettes, are a phenomenal training tool used by gymnasts and are great for anyone looking to get better at gymnastics movements while traveling.

Practice your L-sits, planches, and handstands right in your hotel room. Gripping the small bar is better for your wrists than placing your hands flat on the floor.

There are a few different types of parallettes but Tim uses the Vita Vibe MP12 ultra-light mini-parallettes that are small enough to fit in your carry-on. They're available in wood or aluminum.

Price: $29

Bottom Line

Tim knows his stuff. He travels frequently and takes his fitness seriously. If these products are good enough for him to use, they're worth considering. Check them out.
