Best for Home Gyms

Fitbod uses AI-learning to develop a workout plan for you that includes exercises, sets, and repetitions based on your abilities, goals, and available gym equipment.

There is no free version of the app available besides the free trial. Without a subscription, you won't be able to start or log workouts. You can, however, save and create workouts using the exercise library and view exercise demonstration videos and instructions.

A monthly subscription is $9.99 and a yearly subscription is $59.99. Use the discount code ‘TRAVEL25’ for an exclusive rate - $44.99 for a year of personal training.

Best for Bodyweight Training

There are a few different apps that make up the Freeletics package - Bodyweight (the most popular one), Gym, Nutrition, and Running. Within each one, there's a free version and a paid version.

The free version is a fitness training program with 10-30 minute bodyweight workouts that require no equipment.

There are over 900 workout variations and they cover all of your major muscle groups. It comes with tutorial videos to help you with exercises you don't know and to get the right form on them.

The paid version is called "The Coach" and is a personalized digital trainer. It's a program developed for you based on your age, weight, goals, abilities, and availability.

Training and nutrition costs $3.35 a week, while training only costs $2.30 a week. With the purchase of either one, you'll get access to personalized training plans in the Bodyweight, Gym, and Running apps.

Best for Running

For many runners, being stuck at home doesn’t mean you can’t go for a run. Things just aren't right without logging a few miles.

Strava will let you track your run, map your route, analyze your training, and let you upload and share your stats - all for free.

Think social network for athletes - specifically runners and cyclists.

Best for Bodyweight + Weight Training

Nike Training Club is basically a digital personal trainer.  Get fit on the go with 160+ free workouts full of everything from yoga to strength training.

The app is not limited to bodyweight training - there's a fair amount of dumbbell exercises. That's great, as long as you have them accessible. If you do, NTC is a great app - you'll get an actual workout plan, rather than just a list of workouts.

Most workouts are between 15 and 45 minutes long and you can choose between low, medium, and high intensity. The workouts offer variety and are well thought out - you know you'll get a good workout with NTC.
